Requirements
- Each athlete must not enroll for more than 3 individual events, exclusive of group events.
- If the team has at least 20 athletes, it can dispatch a judge who has been qualified as national judge of 1st grade or above. Confirmed and approved by the organizing committee, he/she will be appointed as a judge of the events and may also become the guest performer.
Age Groupings
A. Individual Events – according to age and sex
Group A – Children 2000 – 2004 (year of birth)
A1 : age 6 or below (2004 or later)
A2 : age 7 -8 (2002 -2003)
A3 : age 9 -10 (2000 -2001)
Group B – Adolescents 1993 – 1999 (year of birth)
B1 : age 11-13 (1997-1998)
B2 : age 14 -15 (1995 -1996)
B3: age 16-17 (1993 -1994)
Group C – Young Adults 1981-1992 (year of birth)
C1 : age 18-21 (1989 -1992)
C2 : age 22-25 (1985 -1988)
C3 : age 26-29 (1981-1984)
Group D – Adults 1971 -1980 (year of birth)
D1: age 30-34 (1976-1980)
D2: age 35-39 (1971-1975)
Group E – Mid-age Adults: 1951 -1970 (year of birth)
E1: age 40--43 (1967-1970)
E2: age 44--47 (1963 -1966)
E3: age 48--51(1959 -1962)
E4: age 52--55 (1955 -1958)
E5: age 56—59 (1951 - 1954)
Group F – Elderly: Before 1950
F1: age 60 –63 (1947- 1950)
F2: age 64 –67 (1943 - 1946)
F3: age 68 –70 (1940 - 1942)
F4: age 71 –74 (1936 - 1939)
F5: age 75 or before (before 1935)
B. Group Events:
Age group is determined by the mean age of team members, irrespective of sex.
Rules
- There are individual and group events in competition.
- In competition, Competition Routine (Taolu) follows the regulations of the 1991 National Competition Routines. Traditional Routine follows the regulations of International Martial Arts Competition introduced by the International Martial Arts Federation. There are supplementary rules by the organizing committee.
- Judges are appointed by the organizing committee. All decisions are final and no appeal is allowed.
- Duration of contest:

- Competition Routine : 4 minutes (whistle reminder at the 3rd minute)
- Traditional Routine : 3 minutes (whistle reminder at the 2nd minute)
- Weapons : In 3 minutes (whistle reminder at the 2nd minute)
- Qigong : In 3 minutes (whistle reminder at the 2nd minute)
- Groups or Teams: In 3 minutes (whistle reminder at the 2nd minute). The team must consist of at least 5 persons. 0.5 point is deducted for each absentee. The team is disqualified if less than 3 persons are present at the time of the competition.
- No penalty is given if the routine is not complete at the end of the time allowed.
Positions and Awards
1. Awards is based on the categories of event, sex and age:
- First class award (top 20% of the participants) – gold medal and certificate
- Second class award (next descending 30% of the participants) – silver medal and certificate
- Third class award (next descending 30% of the participants) – bronze medal and certificate
- The remaining 20% will receive a certificate of participation
2. There is a “Best Background Music” award for group events.
3. There are trophies and certificates for the following:
- The best (champion) in group event – “Best performance” trophy and certificate
- The best individual in multiple events – “Kung Fu Elite ” trophy and certificate
- The group/organization with most athletes – “Active Advocate” trophy and certificate
- The group and individual taking part in most events – “Active Support” trophy and certificate
- Event of uniqueness and specialty – “Heritage” trophy and certificate
- Proposer of event of uniqueness and specialty – “Explorer” trophy and certificate
- For organization with the most athletes, the captain will gain the “Best captain” trophy and certificate
- For organization with awards in the most different events, the coach will gain “Best coach” trophy and certificate
- The youngest athlete – “Kungfu Star of Hope” trophy and certificate
- The eldest athlete – “Kungfu Star of the Elderly” trophy and certificate
Enrollment Charge
The enrollment charge consists of the application fee and event fee.
1. Application Fee:
- Individual HK$100 / US$15 per person.
- Group HK$100 / US$15 per group
Note: Each captain, coach, or athlete has to pay the application fee $100 once.
2. Event Fee: (Each participant is limited to 3 events, exclusive of group events.)
- Single Event - HK$180 / US$25, Double - $280 / US$40, Triple - $380 / US$52.
- Group Event - HK$100 / US$15 per person, the minimum is HK$500 / US$68 per group.
3. All participants must be responsible for their own travel and safety insurance expense.
Enrollment Procedure
- Deadline of enrollment/application: 30th October, 2010
- Applicants (individual or group) should sign or chop, enclose photocopies of identity card / passport, and two 2” photos. Applicants must also sign the safety statement.
- Completed forms, payment slips and documents etc. should be sent to the address below. Alternatively, they can be emailed to taiji@thecorner.org or faxed to: 852-30119554
- There is a HK$200 charge if a participant requests to change the event after the submission of application.
- Participants will be confirmed by email after they are enrolled successfully. Please print the email address clearly.

- Enrollment charge is not refundable.

The timetable and arrangement of various events will be announced about 10 days prior to the competition. Please check with the website: http://www.hongkongkungfu.com
Additional Rules
- All athletes should be in sportswear during contest.
- Any athlete whose age is not accurate and does not match with that entered in the enrollment form will be disqualified from the events.
- Athletes are responsible for themselves any injury resulting from their health conditions and the subsequent expense. Athletes are advised to arrange their own insurance coverage.
The regulations may be amended whenever necessary.
